Advertising Work - diptych, conceptual still life.

Here are my recent advertising work. I'm continuing with diptych in sort of conceptual still life style. Unofficially i'm majoring in advertising so i'm more focused on these than i've ever been. It's unofficial only bcuz i haven't officially swapped the major, yet. But since my mind is very much set for advertising now, i'll try to continue producing more portfolio worth work.

I am a fan of the middle diptych. It's all around really clever with composition and objects. I would have liked that shadow on the left of the pencils to be darker and just as sharp edged as the shadows on the clips for consistency-sake. Other than that. I dig!

I also liked the connection between the spools of the thread and the earrings but the backgrounds are telling different stories and I don't understand the texture on the lighter background.

The lightbulb/candy diptych is cute but kind of plain. I would like the bulb to take up more of the frame to better see the little lights and the question mark actually is exactly how I feel when I see it. kind of like, :o?. Like I don't get it.

Take more risks, Yo, Joo. You are creative!

thanks for the very detailed comments on each image, cat. really appreciate it. here are some explanation and feedback. ;)

first image - the darker bkgd and the texture of the earrings match. i actually like the pattern on the lighter bkgd tho. it lines up with the curve edge of the earring.

second image - some ppl don't get what i'm trying to show within this image so i'm happy to hear you dig it! ;) i'll consider your opinion on the shadow.

third image - i do agree with ya. it's the weakest among three. fyi, it's little hard to see but there actually is a reflection of the lightbulb on the bottom half. the shape of little lights and the shape of candy resemble each other. that's all i was trying to show in here. and you know we use the lightbulb as a symbol when we have an idea. so the question mark is to show the opposite side of it.
